Pushing Boundaries

A few weeks ago I posted a video of my kids pushing the boundaries and I realized that I have also pushed boundaries most of my life. I feel that pushing boundaries is an integral part of life; human-kind would not progress if not for stepping beyond the limits.

One thing I believe about pushing boundaries is that pushing our own personal boundaries is one of the only ways to keep growing and learning. It is only when I reach the edges of what I'm used to and comfortable with that I learn new things and skills.

It is the same with children. They push boundaries because they are curious. They are learning new things each day by moving past the limits we give them. So even though it may be frustrating as parents to try to keep them safe and on task while they push boundaries; we should keep in mind that they are trying to learn (saying this out loud for myself to hear).

Pushing boundaries is also how we challenge the status quo in our world that we would like to see changed. It's one way we can "be the change we wish to see in the world."
