Not your Average Farm

On this week’s blog, we’re spotlighting another local farm doing good work, that also happens to now be another of our granola retail partners: Stoney Lane Cattle in Dover, Pa.

Stoney Lane raises beef cattle, but they’re not like your typical industrialized farm. The capstone of their practice is love- of farming and their animals. They intentionally follow low/no stress practices for the cows who graze on pastures, hay, and home-grown grains. The owners/farmers are clearly passionate about their herd and want to invite you to meet their cows, see their practices up close, and feel confident about where your meat is coming from… and just how different their approach is from the big meat industry in America: “All of us here at Stoney-Lane Cattle put our heart and soul into responsibly producing meat for your family; I take [it] personally,” their website states. Their beef is 100% hormone and antibiotic free and the farm is part of the PA Beef Quality Assurance program. They also raise pork on a Non-GMO diet in low stress environments without the use of hormones or antibiotics.

On-farm, you'll find a shop filled with their meats along with other local products, such as Tucker & Co Granola. Stoney Lane raises more than just meat, with lots of fresh fruits and veggies on tap. This week find: tomatoes, plums, peppers, peaches, sweet corn (and more!) You can also grab a dozen of their farm-raised eggs too! Local honey, Crust & Crumb Sourdough Breads/Bagels & Shadey Lane’s own hand-made tallow skin products all await you. Beginning September 1st you can visit for pumpkins, mums, and straw bales. The shed (produce) is open for self serve 9 am-8 pm everyday (cash or venmo). The Farm Shop hours are Tuesday 4-6 pm, Thursday 9am-12 pm, and Saturday 9 am-12 pm.

Stoney Lane offers bulk beef and pork shares in the Spring and Fall seasons, something to consider as the cool months and busier schedules approach.

On sunny summer days (that aren’t too hot) there is sometimes nothing better than taking a drive through country roads with the windows down and your favorite album playing… let your drive lead you to Stoney Lane Farms… goodness awaits!
